Students in Ms. Rohde’s classroom at Jerome are engineering the future! As part of their STEM learning, students stepped into the role of real-world engineers by designing, building, and testing towers to see if they could withstand vibration and movement. Through hands-on problem solving, collaboration, and creative thinking, students explored core engineering principles while strengthening critical thinking and resilience. Learning came alive as curiosity turned into innovation!

Look at the focus on every face! Students at Jerome welcomed the third stage of their sensory station this week — a bubble wall that provides calming sensory input. This tool offers students a chance to take mindful breaks, engage senses, and build self regulation skills that support learning and well being. As part of a PBIS lesson, students learned ways to self regulate while visiting this important station at our school.

Students in Ms. Morris’ classroom at Jerome were excited to return to school and re-engage in meaningful learning after winter break. The classroom was filled with energy as students actively participated in a variety of instructional goals that support early numeracy and problem solving.

Today, students demonstrated strong mathematical thinking as they counted, compared, and applied effective strategies to find sums. These hands on learning experiences strengthen number sense, build confidence, and align directly with instructional standards.

A sincere thank you to Ms. Morris and Ms. Smith for creating a welcoming, supportive, and engaging learning environment where students and families feel valued and connected to the school community.

Principal Nichols would like to extend heartfelt gratitude to Ms. Williams and Ms. Burton, two of Jerome’s dedicated Early Head Start teachers, for another exceptional day of learning and exploration. Yesterday, their students engaged in scaffolded, play-based experiences that supported instructional goals across multiple domains, including color recognition, early literacy, music and movement, and foundational classroom expectations.

It was a truly transformative day filled with intentional, developmentally appropriate lessons that sparked curiosity, creativity, and confidence in our youngest learners. Thank you, Ms. Williams and Ms. Burton, for your continued commitment to nurturing young minds and building the foundation for lifelong learning.

Students in Ms. Rohde’s classroom celebrated our school-wide Apple Crunch Week in true Jerome STEM Campus fashion! Throughout the week, students explored hands-on STEM and literacy-based learning experiences centered around one of Michigan’s favorite fall treasures — apples!

From science experiments exploring apple oxidation to math activities measuring and graphing apple varieties, students engaged in cross-curricular projects that sparked curiosity and creativity. They also learned about different types of apples grown right here in Michigan, connecting their studies to local agriculture and sustainability.

To top it all off, students enjoyed taste-testing a variety of delicious, apple-inspired foods — blending learning with a fun and flavorful experience!

Ms. Williams and Ms. Burton's Early Head Start classroom at Jerome recently dedicated a full day to exploring their learning environment — both inside and out!

Through hands-on activities and collaborative discovery, children engaged in interactive problem solving as they worked together to think about how their classroom could feel more like a second home.

This meaningful experience supports the foundation of a strong classroom community, bridging the gap between school and home. A key component in the Early Head Start approach to whole child development. Every day, our students are learning how to think critically, communicate, and build strong emotional connections, all part of the Saginaw ISD curriculum focused on the development of the whole child.

We’re proud of the safe, inspiring, and inclusive spaces our educators create to support each learner's journey.
