jerome clinic opening

Saginaw Intermediate School District (ISD) and the Saginaw County Health Department officially opened a new community clinic space inside Jerome Green STEM Preschool on Thursday, marking another step in expanding access to services and support for local children and families.

As part of the recent renovation and reopening of Jerome Preschool, Saginaw ISD intentionally redesigned previously unused space within the building to create a dedicated clinic area with its own separate and secure entrance. The new space was designed to increase accessibility for Jerome families and community members while strengthening the connection between education, health, and early childhood support services.

“From the beginning, our vision for Jerome was always bigger than renovating a preschool building,” said Saginaw ISD Superintendent Dr. Jeffrey Collier. “We wanted to create a community-centered space that supports children and families in every possible way. By partnering with the Saginaw County Health Department to bring additional services directly into this facility, we are continuing to remove barriers, strengthen families, and expand possibilities for our community.”

The clinic space will support services including nutrition education, healthy food resources, breastfeeding support, and referrals to additional community services through the Saginaw County Health Department. During Thursday’s open house and facility tour, community members, families, and local leaders had the opportunity to explore the new space and learn more about the partnership and services that will now be available directly within Jerome Green STEM Preschool.

Leadership from the Saginaw County Health Department, Jerome Preschool Principal Corey Nichols, and participating families were also available to discuss the impact of bringing additional community resources directly into a preschool setting. Saginaw ISD leaders say the collaboration reflects the district’s broader commitment to supporting the whole child and helping remove barriers for families by creating stronger connections between education and community services.
